Principal Electrical Engineer

Located in Salem, MA Titan Advanced Energy Solutions develops and tests industry-leading, ultrasound-based battery diagnostics systems for applications in electrical vehicles, consumer electronics, stationary storage, and 2nd life market for re-purposing of used EV batteries.
We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to be part of a team responsible for developing and delivering new fit-for-purpose BMS product offerings, adapting commercially available technologies and leading in-house development. These efforts will directly support key Titan business opportunities making Titan the partner of choice for customers who want leading edge battery management technology.
A successful candidate for this role will be a system-level thinker, with exemplary electrical engineering abilities at the circuit/component level.

Duties and Responsibilities
​

Develop plans for and own complex electrical engineering projects
-
Perform detailed electrical circuit design and development cycle: system requirements, architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, testing and integration

Create rapid prototypes to prove out new technologies

Development of battery management systems, for integration into Battery Electric Vehicles and Energy Storage Systems

Perform system-level fault analysis andFMEAs
-
Partner with vendors and contract manufacturers to supplement team’s capabilities
-
Oversee/perform verification and validation activities including writing plans & reports
-
Participation in team meetings, collaborating on efficiencies and mentoring colleagues

Other duties as assigned
Required experience in most or all the following:

BS Electrical Engineering; 10+ years of experience
-
Demonstrated expertise designing analog, mixed-signal and digital systems
-
Proficient with electronic design tools for schematic capture and PCB layout/design such as EAGLE PCB or Altium
-
Demonstrated history working on multidisciplinary teams comprising hardware, firmware and software engineers
-
Knowledge of common digital communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet and CAN and LIN bus

Experience working with contract manufacturers and external board production companies

Analytical and problem-solving skills

Clear oral and written communication and leadership skills
Preferred skills:

Experience with ASIC and/or FPGA design

Experience working with high-frequency transducers; ultrasound a strong plus

Experience designing Battery Management Systems

Software development in C

Design for low-power systems
